Most Tattoo Inks Found with Harmful Substances such as Nickel - Need for stricter regulations on tattoo inks - Recently, the popularity of semi-permanent makeup―including eyebrow and lip coloring as well as scalp tattoos―has driven the growth of the tattoo market. The Korea Consumer Agency (KCA; President: Yoon Soo Hyun) conducted a safety investigation on 24 tattoo ink products currently available on the market, and the results showed that 21* of these products (87.5%) contained harmful substances exceeding domestic and international safety standards; thus highlighting the need for consumer awareness and regulatory measures. |
