Nexon Collective Dispute Settlement Agreed, Biggest Compensation Payout Ever

The Korea Consumer Agency (President Yoon Soo Hyun) and the Korea Fair Trade Commission (Chairperson Han Ki-jeong) announced that a collective dispute settlement regarding “probability-based purchased items in the Maple Story game” has been agreed. With Nexon Korea (hereinafter referred to as “Nexon”) accepting the Consumer Dispute Settlement Commission’s (Chairperson Byun Ung-jae, hereinafter referred to as the “CDSC”) recommendation of a “compensation plan for all users of the Maple Story game,” the final amount of compensation is expected to reach up to KRW 21.9 billion (estimated), the largest amount ever.

The CDSC ruled on August 13 that Nexon should compensate applicants at the rate of 3.1% of the value of the Red Cubes they’d used and 6.6% of the value of Black Cubes used.
