New Balance sneakers for KRW 2,700? Beware of overseas-based online shopping mallssuspected of being fraudulent

Recently, consumers need to be careful as consumers are suffering damage from overseas-based online shopping malls that advertise on social networking services (SNS) as if they are selling famous brand sneakers at a heavy discount to induce consumers to make credit card payments, and then arbitrarily charge additional amounts in the guise of a subscription service.

The first known case of such damage was confirmed in February of this year on the Crossborder Transaction Consumer Portal (crossborder.kca.go.kr) operated by the Korea Consumer Agency (President Yoon Soo-hyun), and a total of 11 cases had been reported by April.
