Laundry Bleach Products Showed Differences in Stain Removal Performance -For all products, caution is required for use, as soaking colored clothing in bleaching agents causes discoloration- Korea Consumer Agency (KCA, President Yoon Soo Hyun) tested 11 oxygen-based bleaches for clothing that are mainly used in households to remove stains from clothing (eight powder and three liquid products) for discoloration of colored clothing, stain removal performance, safety, etc. The test results showed that discoloration of soaking colored clothing in all of the products caused discoloration. For stain removal performance, there were differences among products depending on the washing conditions and types of stain. Although all products met the criteria for container durability and content of hazardous substances such as arsenic, the price per amount used varied by up to 15 times depending on washing conditions for each formulation. In addition, for some products, caution in labeling to prevent use of the products interchangeably with chlorine bleach was found to be needed to ensure safe use. |
