Excessive Levels of Phthalate Plasticizer Detected in Some Headset Products for Children - 69% of the inspected products failed to comply with labeling standards, including omission of KC marks - As more children use headsets for more frequent remote learning, Korea Consumer Agency (KCA, President Jang Duck-jin) inspected the safety and features of 13 headset products for children sold online. The results revealed three products failed to meet accepted standards due to their DEHP, DINP and other phthalate plasticizer contents exceeding them. Some of the products turned out to exceed the permitted level under the EU’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic devices. Also, nine products failed to comply with the labeling requirements, including KC marks.
