Starbucks Korea Recalls Its Promotional Gift

- Formaldehyde detected from Summer Carry Bag, Starbucks Korea’s seasonal promotion gift -

□Starting August 11, SCK Company (Starbucks Korea) has recalled its promotional gift, or Summer Carry Bag, after formaldehyde was found in the item.

  o Korea Consumer Agency(President Jang Duck-Jin, KCA) and Korean Agency for Technology and Standards(President Lee Sang-Hoon, KATS) conducted a research on the item and confirmed that it contained formaldehyde.

     * Outer cover(20.0∼681.0mg/kg), inner lining(26.0∼212.8mg/kg), paper stiffener(71.6∼641.0mg/kg)

  o Accordingly, Starbucks Korea decided to expand its measures and issue a voluntary recall* to retrieve all(1,079,110) the Summer Carry Bag that has been offered and sold to its customers since May 20.

     * Business operator reports the recall process to the government and goes through periodic inspections
