Mask Guards May Reduce Protective Effect of Masks

Different kinds of accessories that facilitate use and maintenance of face coverings are being distributed in the market as wearing masks is becoming a common practice due to COVID-19.

Korea Consumer Agency(President Jang Duck-Jin, KCA) and Yoo Eui-dong of People Power Party, who is also a Member of National Assembly for Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek 2nd Constituency, jointly conducted a safety inspection of 30 mask accessories* that are being distributed online. As a result, some mask guards** are found to lower the efficacy of masks.
