Air Purifiers Differ in Performance and Product Features

As more people tend to spend their time indoors due to the spread of the pandemic, the demand for air purifier is increasing accordingly.

Korea Consumer Agency(President Jang Duck-Jin, KCA) tested and evaluated purifiers from eight most popular brands* in terms of standard effective area(fine dust removal performance), removal efficiency of toxic gases and odors, noise generation and safety.

As a result, all products showed no abnormalities in safety, such as possibility of electric shock or short circuit, ozone generation and toxic substances in filters. However, there were differences between products in terms of removal efficiency of toxic gases and odors, noise generation and fine dust removal performance. Moreover, the cost of annual energy consumption and filter replacement varied by up to twice, while CO2 emission varied by 1.8 times.
