Consumer safety warning for e-scooters - Intelligence and supervision to minimize vacuum in safety management - ■ The Korea Consumer Agency (President Lee Hee-sook, KCA) and the Fair Trade Commission (Chairperson Joh Sung-wook) jointly issued a consumer safety warning with the aim to avoid safety accidents following the recent amendment to the Road Safety Act, under which people aged 13 or older are allowed to use electronic scooters without a driver’s license.
ㅇ In the past three years and 11 months, 1,252 safety accident cases were received by the Consumer Injury Surveillance System, 804 of which were accidents caused by inexperienced driving (64.2%) and 393 by product failure or defects (31.4%). |
