Metallic foreign bodies (metal powder) found in spices over the permitted limits
As travelling overseas has become a common practice among people and they are increasingly exposed to exotic cuisines presented by media, imported spices are very popular among consumers. The Korea Consumer Agency (President: Lee Hee Sook) tested 20 processed spice products (in powder form)* in the market for their safety. Consumers are advised to note that metallic foreign bodies (metal powder), in amounts over the permitted limits, were found in more than a half of them. * Top-selling products on Naver Shopping: Pepper (8 products), cinnamon (7), and cumin (5). |
