Consumer Dispute Settlement Committee found that "mobile phone damage insurance covering repair costs should accept claims for unrepairable damage" The Korea Consumer Agency Consumer Dispute Settlement Committee (Chairperson: Shin Jong-won) made a decision on an insurance claim dispute, where telecommunication service provider A refused to make insurance payment contending that its breakage insurance* would not cover unrepairable damage to the mobile phone, that A should accept the consumer’s insurance claim for the company did not clearly informed the consumer of the coverage, an important element of the insurance policy, and its contention is not in accord with the purpose of an indemnity insurance. * Breakage insurance: A service offered by telecommunication service providers in connection with insurance companies under which consumers can have costs for mobile phone replacement or repair covered.
