1.9 times gap exists in mileage on a single charge 

Recently, electric bicycles that help reduce fine dust and traffic congestions have attracted public attention as an environment-friendly transportation. As of next March, electric bicycles that meet safety requirements(under 25km/h of maximum speed, under 30kg of pedal support system) will be available in the market with the revision of bike lane-related law. Thus more and more people are expected to purchase the bike. There are many different types of electric bikes with a different price range, but there are insufficient information on their quality or safety.

* Revision(scheduled to take effect on 22 March, 2018) 「Law for revitalization of bicycle usage」

The Korea Consumer Agency(President Han Kyeon-pyo) has tested and evaluated 7 electric bikes including their mileage, convenience and safety, battery safety, quality, appearance and structure in order to provide reasonable information to consumers.

It turned out that 1.9 times gap existed among the bikes in terms of mileage and the location of a brake lever and display indicators on some bikes need to be improved.

□ 1.9 times gap exists in mileage on a single charge depending on the pedal support system, 1.6 times gap on the throttle. (See page 7 for details)

ㅇ (Pedal support system mileage*) MIPTECH(APOLLO MARS M3)’s bike can travel up to 111km, which is the farthest distance among 7. Gatevision(YUNBIKE C1)’s bike can run up to 60km, where there was 1.9 times gap.

* 50% of biker’s pedal power + 50% of electric motor with 75kg after a full charge

ㅇ (Throttle mileage*) Alonsports(CITY)’s bike can run up to 42km, which is the farthest among 5 while Gatevision(YUNBIKE C1) can run up to 27km, which is the shortest. So there was 1.6 times gap.

ㅇ 5 bikes including Gatevision(YUNBIKE C1)** had 6 features of convenience and safety making drivers feel more comfortable.

** Gatevision(YUNBIKE C1), Samchuly Bicycle(24 Phantom CITY, 26 Phantom EX), Alonsports(CITY), MIPTECH(APOLLO MARS M3)

Velostar(Folding Star S)had no speed, distance and time indicator. Institute of E-Procurement(biro CLASSIC) had no throttle lock-down feature.

     speech charger(LCD or LED) and uphill road·pedal recognition

Safety : 3 features including protection of overspeed, throttle lock-down and motor block in braking system

ㅇ According to Safety Standard**** Electric bikes should have a front brake on the left of the wheel and a rear brake on the right side, but Velostar(Folding Star S) had front and rear brakes the other way around.

=> The relevant company set the location of brake lever right and replied to notice buyers individually. (Contact us: 1688-8658)

ㅇ Gatevision(YUNBIKE C1), Velostar(Folding Star S) and MIPTECH(APOLLO MARS M3) didn’t have safety confirmation or certification number, date of manufacture, seller’s name and model name. Velostar(Folding Star S) had a wrong battery level.

=> The three companies replied to agree to fix these problems.

□All the bikes turned out to have no problems with battery safety and quality(See page 10)

ㅇ All of the bikes met the safety requirements including high-temperature deformation of battery, overcharge and external short circuit. They also had no quality problems with circuits, durability and brake performance.
