Conducting a Safety Campaign of Fire Prevention from Outdoor Unit of Air Conditioners
- Major air conditioner manufacturers have performed a safety check on outdoor unit of air conditioners -
As the distribution of air conditioners becomes normal, fire accidents from outdoor unit of air conditioners resulting from installation environment and long-term use of air conditioners take place. Thus, the safety check for the outdoor unit is required.
The Korea Consumer Agency(President Han, Kyeon-pyo) and the Ministry of public safety and Security(Minister Park, In-yong) cooperate with major air conditioner manufacturers to run a campaign for fire prevention of the unit during summer.
In addition, the two agreed to encourage local governments to conduct a safety check on the outdoor units especially in the traditional market and old facilities which are vulnerable to fire alike.
The air conditioner manufacturers(Dongbu Daewoo Electronics, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics) agreed to provide safety inspection service to prevent fire from the outdoor unit in summer. Consumers with air conditioners from the above manufacturers are able to get safety check for inside and outside electrical wiring and major components. * The total market share of the three estimated more than 80 percent(News 1, 9.8.16)
The Korea Consumer Agency and the Ministry of public safety and Security said consumers should pay attention to engineers from manufacturers when installing air conditioners. They also need to clean up surrounding outdoor units for fire prevention. Also, the Agency and Ministry will extend a campaign so that they can stop fire from other products in advance.
