Result of Monitoring Local Distribution of Overseas Recalled Products in the First Quarter of 2017

- Corrective measures including free repair and suspension of 35 products -

The Korea Consumer Agency(President Han, Kyeon-pyo) has identified overseas defective and inferior products from January to March 2017 and found out that 35 overseas recalled products are currently in the local market.

There are 9 cases(25.7%) of leisure equipment followed by 6 cases(17.1%) of food and electronic products and 5 cases(14.3%) of baby products. Among 35 products 7 of them sold by local importers or distributors have been repaired for free through voluntary cooperation. 28 products that local importers and distributors don’t sell or that are hard to confirm distribution channel have been suspended in the local market.

In addition, customers who purchased recalled ATV, motor cycles and electric bicycles are asked to receive free repair service.

The KCA said that it would strengthen monitoring and corrective measures of overseas recalled products by running regular consultative bodies for businesses including big discount stores and online shopping brokers.
