No Distribution and Sale of a clip that stops Warning Sound of Seat Belts for Automobiles Recommended

- Concerns regarding no warning sound when drivers do not fasten their seat belt-

    People who die from traffic accidents with seat belts on are 3.95 while those of no safety belts are 14.65(3.7 times up) per 1,000. Seat belts contribute to preventing traffic accidents. For that reason, most of the cars are equipped with a device with warning sound of safety belts so that drivers should wear seat belts while driving.

However, customers need to pay attention to online sales and distribution of a clip that stops warning sound of safety belts.

    These products are not illegal under the current law, but they encourage drivers not to wear safety belts, which may pose a serious threat to the drivers’ safety.

Accordingly, the Korea Customer Agency(President Han Kyeon-pyo, KCA) advised 13 online businesses(open markets and shopping malls) against selling and distributing the products. In addition, the KCA has taken measures to prevent the manufacturing and encouraged customers not to use them as drivers’s safety comes first before convenience.
