KCA, Hosted a Seminar on Ways to Reduce and Prevent No-ShowsAims to Create Advanced Consumer Culture

- Discussed ways on how to prevent No-Shows and share successful cases -

 

    In line with “21st Consumer Day” week event, on December 5th, in Seo-cho gu, Yang-jae dong, L Tower, KCA hosted a seminar with Korea Fair Trade Commission on “Ways to Reduce and Prevent No-Shows”, which aims to promote advanced consumer culture. The seminar was conducted to review achievements on 2016 nationwide no-show campaign and to discuss ways on how to reduce no-shows.

 

    The seminar started with welcoming speech of KCA president, Han Kyeon-Pyo, followed presentations and discussion of experts in different sectors on efforts they made to prevent no-shows. Dr. Kim Seong-Chun(KCA) and professor Bin Ki-Bum of Myung-Ji university (Korea Internet Advertising Foundation) took part in theme presentation, then the media, consumer agencies, industries and other relevant experts participated in general discussion. Dr. Kim Seong-Chun highlighted the importance of improving consumer’s social responsibility and citizenship through continuous consumer education. Also, professor Bin Ki-Bum conducted research twice on July and November 2016, and found that no-show campaign helped to reduce no-show rates in five major sectors by 3.67% points.

 

    In the general discussion, Korea Foodservice Industry Association said that since October, 2015, they launched no-show campaign with Cho-sun daily, and signed an MoU with Hite Jinro to attach no-show campaign sticker on drinks (January, 2016). Also, Seoul National University Hospital said that after they conducted nationwide campaign on reducing no-shows, the percentage of patients who do not show up after making reservation has decreased by 3~4% points.

 

    President of KCA, Han Kyeon-Pyo said that “2016 was a year that people’s awareness on preventing no-shows has successfully improved by cooperation among people, the public sector, private sector, and academia” then added that “KCA will take initiative in not only reducing no-shows but also in creating advanced consumption culture".
