KCA, wins President Award of “2016 Active Administrative Case Competition”

- received 92.9 points among 12 teams in on-site evaluation

 

    On November 16, 2016, Korea Consumer Agency (www.kca.go.kr) awarded “2016 active administrative case competition” held in Sejong Convention Center in Sejong city for “Compensated 270billion Won to 32million citizens and revised fraudulent advertisement of telecommunication companies’ unlimited LTE plan. This brought victory to KCA by winning the first place.

 

    The competition was held by the Ministry of Personnel Management for the first time and aims to create active government agency practices by sharing excellent cases of conducting administrative works in citizens’ perspective.

 

    On that day, KCA received a huge round of applause for a news style parody on how KCA cooperated with the Fair Trade Commission and other relevant departments to revise telecommunication companies’ data plan names and call companies to make compensations for consumers.

 

    Also, KCA had honor of receiving top 92.9 scores from on-site panels which are university students. KCA won the first place in the public sector, after competing against 12 teams that made it to the final.

 

    In 2014, KCA conducted research on revising telecommunication companies’ fraudulent data plan names of LTE unlimited use. Fraudulent names can not only mislead consumers, so revising wrong names can prevent consumer damage and ease burden on households by reducing excessive data fees.

 

    Based on the research result, KCA laid out solutions to ease financial burden on households by reducing telecommunication fees, and brought conclusion that by using the press and media attention, telecommunication companies compensated 270billion Won to consumers.
