Haatz to replace broken toughened glass gas cooktops for free -Damage caused by impurities and excessive thermal shock-
Haatz Co., Ltd. will voluntarily offer free replacement for broken gas cooktops made from toughened glass*. * Toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by thermal treatment to increase its strength in order to withstand shock or sudden temperature change.
A report filed via the Consumer Injury Surveillance System (CISS) with respect to toughened glass breaking while using a gas cooktop manufactured by Haatz led the Korea Consumer Agency (www.kca.go.kr) to investigate.
In presuming that the toughened glass was broken due to impurities entering or excessive thermal treatment during the manufacturing process, the KCA recommended corrective measures to the company, such as offering free replacement.
In accepting KCA’s recommendation, Haatz decided to replace broken gas cooktops made from toughened glass among the 27,000 units manufactured from June 2007 to October 2011.
The KCA advised consumers to immediately contact Haatz (1644-0806) to receive free replacement if toughened glass breaks during usage.
