Nike Sports refunding consumers who purchased soccer slippers that showed dye smearing
Nike Sports is offering refunds to customers who purchased the Nike Benassi Solarsoft Soccer Slippers, due to dye smearing problems.
The Korea Consumer Agency (www.kca.go.kr) investigated after receiving information via its Consumer Injury Surveillance System (CISS) that socks were smeared with red dye.
The KCA found that problems during the manufacturing process caused dye smearing (particularly among slippers with red or pink soles). Accordingly, the KCA recommended Nike Sports to take corrective measures, such as recalling the products in question and providing refunds.
Although the dye used is not a cause of safety concern, it is a matter related to product quality. Thus, Nike Sports are providing refunds to consumers who purchased soccer slippers with dye smearing problems. Among the products imported to Korea (March ~ May 2014), 129,258 slippers have red or pink soles. Of the 129,258 slippers, refunds were provided for 353 slippers due to dye smearing (as of November 2014).
The KCA advised consumers who purchased the slippers to check for dye smearing and, if found, contact the Nike Sports Consumer Service Center (080-022-0182) and ask for a refund |
