In order to prevent consumer damages stemming from fraudulent online transactions, the Korea Consumer Agency(www.kca.go.kr) plans to carry out the 'International Campaign on Fraud Prevention Month' in April.
The campaign is held annually during which member countries of the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN)* participate in order to share countermeasures to prevent consumer damages involving fraudulent transactions. More than 20 countries participate, including Korea, Australia and Canada.
* ICPEN is an organization comprised of consumer protection authorities from 53 countries, including OECD member countries. The organization's main purpose is carrying out various cooperative activities to protect consumers through holding regular meetings and carrying out joint projects.
During the campaign period, the KCA is to post information on frequent consumer damage cases related to online transactions and its countermeasures via the Official Facebook page on a weekly basis.
In holding the 'fill the blank event' to attract public interest, participants who received the most "like" votes will be chosen as the "Fraud Prevention Month Champion" and given gift certificate.
* Details about the campaign are available on the KCA's website (www.kca.go.kr) and Official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/kcafpm).
