Started Supporting Vitalization of Consumer Policy in the Central Asia
- Signed the Joint Two-Year Plan with the State Competition Committee-
Korea Consumer Agency signed the 'Joint Two-Year Plan' as a strategic partnership with the State Committee of Republic of Uzbekistan for Privatization, Demonopolization, and Competition Development (State Competition Committee-SCC*) in order to enhance the economic cooperation and support vitalizing its consumer policy and system on September 15, 2014.
*The State Competition Committee is the Economic ministry which deals with consumer protection and fair trade, and signed the MOU with Korea Consumer Agency in December, 2013.
The Joint Two-Year Plan was requested by the SCC, and the KCA plans to provide its know-how and experience regarding Korea's consumer policies and systems.
In May 2013, delegates who are in charge of consumer policy, important figures of consumer organizations, etc. participated in the signing ceremony held after the first Korea-Uzbekistan workshop in Seoul.
The KCA announced that this project would help to provide its know-how of advanced consumer systems in Korea to the Central Asia as one of the supporting programs of vitalizing developing countries' consumer tasks promoted in light of government policy to contribute to improving international community.
The president of the KCA, Dae-pyo Jung stated that we could expect sustainable economic development, if culture of protecting consumers' rights holds a place in Uzbekistan which has been rapidly developed in terms of economic and culture at large.
The KCA held the meeting with major leaders of economic affairs, the first Deputy Prime Minister, etc. during the visiting, and asked for interests in consumer tasks and the KCA. In addition, it hosted the seminar that government institutions, consumer organizations, major enterprises took part in to vitalize consumer policies. The KCA also visited the Arirang nursing home for Uzbekistan-Korean to have a time to console the elderly.
The KCA plans to make a contribution to enhancing country's stature by actively aiding developing countries in need of the advanced consumer protection system. |
