KCA Hosted Consumer Protection Workshop with Delegation from Uzbekistan | |||||

– Diffusing know-how related to consumer tasks to the Central Asia Region–
The Korea Consumer Agency reported that it held the joint workshop with the delegates of the State Committee of Republic of Uzbekistan for Privatization, Demonopolization, and Competition Development (SCC*) from May 26th to May 30th. The delegates of the SCC visited the KCA in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on consumer protection between two agencies signed in December, 2013.
*The State Competition Committee is the Economic ministry which deals with consumer protection and fair trade
The KCA and the SCC planned to discuss mainly on selection of the future collaborative work including the Joint Two-Year Plan suggested by the SCC along with the current issues of consumer affairs between two countries at the workshop.
In addition, delegates of the SCC had time to learn about the system of handling consumer complaint, and interact with major consumer organizations of Korea.
The KCA announced that it could provide the basis to expand the consumer protection system of Korea to the Central Asia region for the first time by enhancing cooperation with the SCC, and support activities of Korean companies in Uzbekistan through this workshop.
Since the last year, the KCA, in cooperation with KOICA, has operated various supporting programs, such as “Project for supporting vitalization of Vietnam consumer policies”, “Strengthening Consumer Affairs Activity and Specialist Training Program”, etc. to vitalize consumer tasks in developing countries, and expects to contribute to major government projects for the world peace and development. |
