The 2013 Asian Forum on Consumer Policy was held in Seoul in July
The Korea Consumer Agency and the Korea Fair Trade Commission held the 4th Asian Forum on Consumer Policy in Seoul on July 4-5, 2013. In this year, 24 foreign delegates took part in the biannual Forum from ten nations including ASEAN member nations, Australia, China, Japan, etc, and the OECD to have active discussion on recent consumer issues including strengthening cooperative efforts to solve cross-border consumer issues in the Asian region.
In particular, President Dae-pyo Jung of the KCA indicated importance of cross-border cooperation for consumer issues in line with increasing cross-border transaction backed by FTA and advanced information and telecommunication technologies during his keynote speech. He also emphasized importance and necessity of cooperation with the ASEAN member nations in consumer field. Meanwhile, the ASEAN, Korea's second biggest trading partner, is going to be established as the ASEAN Econimic Community(AEC) in 2015.
