The KCA celebrates its 25th Anniversary | |||||

- Formed a Social Consensus for Consumer Empowerment The Korea Consumer Agency (President: Dae-pyo Jung, www.kca.go.kr) held a celebration event for its 25th anniversary in Seoul on June 28th, 2012. The Reception has been planned to form a social consensus for consumer empowerment and sound development of the national economy. About 200 people from the Government, consumer groups, and companies took part in the reception. The reception included programs such as report on the KCA progress for the past 25 years, congratulatory message and video message from key persons at home and abroad, and medal-awarding ceremony for contribution to consumer protection. The organization’s name changed to the Korea Consumer Agency (KCA) in March, 2007 as the Consumer Protection Act was revised to the Framework Act on Consumer. And, the Agency made remarkable progress as it introduced collective ADR system, established single nationwide Consumer Counseling Network (www.ccn.go.kr), and held 1,000 rounds of Consumer Dispute Settlement Commission. Recently, the Agency took the lead in protecting consumer rights and interests via mediation decision on refund of collateral security payments, providing consumers with greater right on choice by launching and operating ‘Smart Consumer’, a portal providing information on product test, and strengthening consumer protection in rural area by establishing its Regional Offices in Busan, Gwangju, and Daejeon Metropolitan City. |
