- Holding a joint seminar with the Chilean SERNAC 
and establishing cooperative network with its Brazilian counterpart -

President Young-seen Kim of the Korea Consumer Agency (www.kca.go.kr) paid a visit to Chile and Brazil during May 7th ~ 16th to lay the groundwork for cooperation in consumer areas in Latin America.
 

In Santiago, Chile, the KCA held a joint seminar on ‘Ways to strengthen financial consumer protection’ with the Chilean National Service of the Consumer (SERNAC) during May 9th to 10th. Also, the KCA delegates visited consumer protection-related organizations such as the National Economic Prosecutor's Office to develop plans for strengthening mutual cooperation.  

※ The KCA concluded an MOU with the Chilean National Service of the Consumer on Nov. 9th, 2005. 

Also, the KCA delegates visited the Procon São Paulo as well as the IDEC, a leading Brazilian consumer group, in São Paulo on May 12th to share thoughts on local consumer administration and consumer group. And, on May 13th, the delegates discussed ways to continue mutual cooperation by meeting the DPDC parties including Director Juliana Pereira da Silva. 

The KCA made it known that it would build a partnership with Latin American nations and make a commitment to global cooperation for consumer affairs through continued cooperation with the consumer agencies in Chile and Brazil.
