| KCA-US FTC Joint Seminar and Int’l Forum on Consumer Protection | |||||

The Korea Consumer Agency (President: Kim, Young-Seen, www.kca.go.kr), along with the USFTC, held a joint seminar and international forum on consumer protection in Seoul for three-day-long schedule from June 9th to 11th.
The joint seminar took place in the format of presentation and discussion in the International Conference Room of the KCA for two days of June 9th and 10th. The seminar was joined by about 30 experts in consumer filed at home and abroad including the KCA, the US Federal Trade Commission, and Japan Federation of Bar Associations to discuss current consumer issues such as e-commerce and consumer credit.
Meanwhile, the int’l forum opened in the Grand Ballroom of Seoul Palace Hotel in the morning of June 11th (9:00 ~ 12:00 am) under the theme of ‘Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) to Resolve Cross-border Consumer Disputes’. During the forum, there was in-depth discussion about how to address cross-border consumer disputes by experts from the US, Japan, and Korea. This time of the event is expected to deepen mutual understanding about consumer protection tasks at each other agency as a leading nation in consumer protection. Also, the two agencies are estimated to play a leading role in international organizations relevant to consumer issues. |
