Consumer sessionxxxxxx
Green Growth begins with green consumer activities and at the center of the market are green consumers. The world is trying to deal with global problems such as the economic crisis, resource exhaustion, and climate change through ‘Low Carbon Green Growth’. Green consumer activities mean the conversion of consumption patterns from materialism-centered consumption into eco-friendly and ethical ones, i.e., a green consumption paradigm. In particular, the discussion on actual cases of green consumption, green consumption-supporting policies, sustainable consumption education, and green marketing status will greatly contribute to the realization of green consumption activities.
First Theme: Establishment of infrastructure for green consumption and policy tasks
Green consumption leading green growth in the future should start close to home. As it is helpful for the individual and national economy and as is a campaign for humanity, which aims to pass on the clean earth to future generations. Until now, diverse kinds of green consumption activities have been carried out. However, a more strategic approach is necessary so that more consumers can join the ranks, settling down “low carbon green growth.”
Under the first theme, real consumption cases of ‘low carbon environmental friendly products’ will be introduced and efficient directions will be suggested for more realistic information based on the relevant policies and implications at home and abroad.
Second Theme: Green Consumption Education and Active Information Service
In order to expand sustainable consumption activities, education on sustainable consumption and a sustainable consumption campaign should be promoted in an active manner. Indeed, the UN and OECD/ CCP (Committee on Consumer Policy) have reviewed policy measures for the activation of sustainable consumer education and many countries have also attempted to develop consumer education programs and materials for sustainable consumption. Under the 2nd theme, more efficient measures will be promulgated based on the understanding of the current status and information service for sustainable consumer education at home and abroad.
Third Theme: Tasks and Strategies of Green Marketing
Consumer purchases of eco-friendly products will eventually compel companies to modify their product designs and production methods. And companies have agreed that they intend to reflect eco-friendly features on their products and provide consumers information for the realization of green consumption.
It is widely understood that not only the consumers’ role but also companies’ social responsibility and roles are all the more important for the transition into a ‘low carbon green consumption era’. Under the 3rd theme, the discussion will focus on the green marketing activation measures, marketing guidelines, and overseas conditions for revitalizing green product consumption. |
