Collective ADR launched for Baby Powder products containing asbestos | ||||||||

![]() On Aug 26, 2009, Consumer Dispute Settlement Commission of the Korea Consumer Agency (President Young-Seen Kim) held the 916th Consumer Dispute Settlement Commission and determined to launch a collective ADR (alternative dispute resolution) process for Boryung NUK Baby Powder products containing asbestos according to Clause 2, Article 68 of the Consumer Basic Law. The products in question include ‘Boryung NUK Baby Powder’, ‘Boryung NUK Baby Compact Powder (White)’, ‘Boryung NUK Baby Colored Compact Powder (Pink)’, and ‘Boryung NUK Clinic Baby Powder’.
Parents, who used the products in question for their infants and babies, claim for compensation for damage such as side effects, check-up costs for possible physical damage and disease, mental shock, and a sense of guilt on their child.
According to the decision, the Commission proceeded sign-up process for the collective ADR for 14 days of Sept. 1 ~ Sept. 14, 2009 to help consumers who are identically damaged from the asbestos-containing baby powder products to get consumer redress in a collective manner.
