The inauguration ceremony of the Vice President and the Executive Director of the Korea Consumer Agency was held on August 22, 2008.

New Vice President of the KCA, Mr. Buhm-Jo Kim majored in Journalism at the Seoul National University, and obtained a Master’s degree in Public Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, U.S.A.  After passing the 21^st Higher Civil Service Examination (Administration), Mr. Buhm-Jo Kim held various positions including the Planning Manager of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Investigation Director General of The Korea Fair Trade Commission, and the Head of Seoul Office of the Korea Fair Trade Commission.  He has been selected as the Vice President of the Korea Consumer Agency through the public selection process in July, 2008. 

Vice President, B.J. Kim has stated during his inaugural speech that he “will make every efforts to enhance the ability and the dignity of the Korea Consumer Agency, taking into consideration the dynamic changes of environment around the Korea Consumer Agency such as the Government’s paradigm shift in consumer policy, supervisory authority change over the KCA, and new government’s urge to improve the efficiency of public organizations.”  He emphasized his focus on the innovation of the KCA, stating that “it is necessary to reestablish the functions and roles of the KCA and to adjust the project priorities.”       

New Executive Director, Mr. Sung-Ho Kim, has devoted 20 years in the Korea Consumer Agency ever since its establishment, having assumed many major responsibilities of the KCA including those as the Director of the Consumer Dispute Settlement Department 1, the Director of the Audit & Inspection Office, and the Secretary of the Consumer Dispute Settlement Commission in addition to a professorial career.  As one of the most experienced persons at the KCA, he expressed his dedication to the development of the Korea Consumer Agency.    

On the same day, Young-Chul Yim Esq. (Partner Attorney, Shin & Kim Law Firm), Mr. Seung-Chul Lee (Secretary General, The Federation of Korean Industries), and Dr. Jung-Sung Yeo (Professor of Division of Consumer and Child Studies, Seoul National University) have all been appointed as the Non- Standing Directors of the KCA for two year-tenures.
