Shampoo Bars Exhibit Varying Degrees of Cleansing Efficacy Across All Products, With Prices Differing by up to 5.4 Times - Highly evaluated for foamability, ease of rinsing and low residue - As consumers have become increasingly concerned about environmental issues and practice “value-oriented consumption,” the consumption of shampoo bars in the form of solid soap has been increasing* instead of liquid shampoo packaged in plastic containers. * The global shampoo bar market has grown at an average annual rate of 7.6% since 2015 and is expected to reach approximately USD $17 million in 2025. (Grand View Research, “Report on the analysis of the shampoo bar market’s size, share, and trends, 2019-2025”, June 2022) Accordingly, Korea Consumer Agency has tested and evaluated ten shampoo bar products with a high level of consumer preference, and found that cleansing efficacy varied depending on the product, and that the difference in price between the products was up to 5.4 times per 10 grams. User satisfaction averaged 5.5 points (on a 9-point scale), with minimal differences among all the products, and foamability, ease of rinsing, and low residue after use were highly evaluated overall. In addition, all the products were distributed in environmentally-friendly packaging materials such as paper and biodegradable resin. |
