Falls Account For Over 60% of Safety Accidents Among Older Adults - Concussion is the most common type of fall injury while hip fracture tends to increase with age- Korea Consumer Agency(President Jang Duck-Jin, KCA), Korea Fair Trade Commission(Chairperson Cho Han Ki-Jeong, KFTC) and Rural Development Administration(Administrator Cho Chae-Ho, RDA) issued a safety alert on falls among older adults. In the past four years(’18~’21), a total of 23,561 accidents among older adults have been reported to Consumer Injury Surveillance System(CISS), of which falls accounts for 62.7%. * CISS(Consumer Injury Surveillance System): A system that collects consumer injury information from 76 injury information reporting authorities including 58 hospitals and 18 fires stations, and consumer complaint information from 1372 Consumer Counseling Center and analyzes it under the Framework Act on Consumers |
