Consumers’complaints against penalties for contract cancellation of smart home-study materials are increasing - Penalty calculation methods and contract cancellation restrictions need to improve - With a rising demand for non-contact online education resulting from the spread of COVID-19, trends of home-study materials for preschoolers, elementary school students, and middle school students are changing from visiting education to digital device-based smart home-study materials*. However, it was found that some smart home-study services may infringe consumers’ rights and interests such as excessive penalties for contract cancellation and restrictions on smart study device cancellation.
