Cautions on Loss/Theft during Delivery from Foreign Online Shopping Malls to Freight Forwarder - Products not delivered or sent empty to freight forwarder - Consumers are experiencing rising number of damages related to proxy shipping services* used to buy products which foreign online shopping malls do not directly delivery or to reduce costs. In particular, there are many cases where consumers consult on lost or stolen products during the delivery process from foreign online shopping malls to freight forwarders. * The product directly bought by the consumer at an online foreign shopping mall is sent to the local freight forwarder (local warehouse managed by proxy shipping service provider), and the proxy shipping service provider delivers the product to Korean consumer’s address by charging commissions. Overseas direct purchasing peaks during the year-end when there are large-scale discount events such as Black Friday (Nov. 27) in the U.S. Overseas direct purchasing is expected to rise this year, as travelling abroad has been hampered by COVID-19. Therefore, consumers are required to take special caution. |
